Carlo Ciceri (1980) Second Year selection

He was born in La Spezia in May 1980.
After graduating in piano, he moved to the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, where he received a Master in Conducting (led by G. Bernasconi) and Composition (with N. Vassena and G. Verrando). At the same time, he followed academies and masterclasses throughout Europe and studied composition with J. Baboni Schilingi and F. Voisin at the Conservatoire de musique de Montbéliard.
He is also graduated in Musicology at the University of Pavia (Faculty of Cremona).
His production, winner in recent years of several international competitions and performed by numerous ensembles in Europe, focused mainly on instrumental music, from pieces for solo instruments to orchestral works.
The final result of this period are « Vasta », Cycle for Viola solo and Ensemble, and « IA », Cycle for a solo string player. The more recent compositions are written for amplified ensemble and electronics: « La Discesa », single act for Ensemble and Voices, whose creation is foreseen for 2011, goes in this direction.
He is co-founder of the collective Terza Practica (Multimedia Dynamic Theatre) and of the group of research M()A (pedagogy and research through systems of assisted analysis).
He teaches Computer-assited Composition at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano and at IRMUS, Scuola Civica di Musica in Milan.
