Principal Clarinet at RSI “Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana”, is still today the unique Italian clarinettist able to achieve the prestigious 1st Absolute Prize at "Prague Spring" International Competition in 1996, together with 2nd prize at Paris Chamber Music International Competition in 1996 and Trapani, where he achieved the 1st and Press Critics Prizes in 1997.Such high successes came after several Prizes and honours, gained winning over twenty prestigious National and International Competitions, allowing him to be known to the audience as one of the woodwind clarinet virtuoso of today.
He began his musical studies at “Civica Scuola di Musica” in Milan, graduating at “G. Verdi” State Conservatory in the same city, just 18-year-old. Then, he went on to study at Saluzzo High Perfecting School with T. Friedli, W. Boeykens, M. Bourge, and at Accademia Chigiana di Siena with G. Garbarino and A. Meunier, gaining Honour Diploma and S.I.A.E. Scholarship there.
Guest at several Festivals and Musical Institutions in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and USA, Paolo Beltramini performed at Biennale di Venezia, Sala G. Verdi in Milan, Auditorium di S. Cecilia in Rome, Teatro Regio di Parma, Biennale of Zagreb, Festival Presence in Paris, Salle le Corum-Radio France in Montpellier, Festival Musica in Strasbourg, Wien Modern Festival, Prague Spring Festival, Beethonvenhaus in Bonn, Olympus Festival in St. Petersburg, Opera de Il Cairo, Izumi Hall in Osaka, Coliseum in Buenos Aires, Lincoln Centre in New York and many others.
He has been working as Principal Clarinet with the major European Orchestras, such as Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Orchestra da Camera Italiana, Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, I Filarmonici di Torino, Orchestra Stabile di Bergamo, Orchestra Filarmonica di Udine, I Virtuosi di Aquileia, Orchestra del Centenario Verdiano di Parma.
He recorded for many important Labels, such as Chandos, Ricordi, Fonit-Cetra, Stradivarius, Sipario Dischi, AS Disc, APM, RS, taking part even to TV Broadcasts with RAI, Radio France, RTL (Radio Tele Luxembourg), RSI (Radio Television Italian Switzerland), Czech Radio. He has recently recorded for Rainbow a Cd with XX Century chamber music for clarinet and piano, receiving high critics on specialised press (Piano Time, CD Classica) He has also been invited to hold master classes in France and Italy, such as Moulin d'Andè (1997), Paris (Conservatoire Rameau - 1999), Badia Prataglia (1998-99), Coldinava (2000), and he's working since 1998 at International Clarinet Interpretation Course at "Asteria" Cultural Centre in Milan, “J. Tomadini” Conservatory in Udine. Paolo Beltramini is actually clarinet professor at “G. Nicolini” State Conservatory in Piacenza, Northern Italy.
